As of lately...

I started work again almost 2 weeks ago. I was definitely ready to go back. I was a para for summer school, which was a 5 week program, and then I had 4 weeks off (mid-July to mid-August). Clay clerked for the Douglas County courthouse here in town, which was awesome! Since we only have one car, it was definitely convenient and easy to work around. He clerked for 2 female judges who specialized in Family Law. As of right now, Clay isn't exactly sure what type of law he wants to go into, but clerking for these judges definitely raised an interest in family law. He has kind of narrowed it down to that, or some sort of business law.
Clay started back up with school today. He was definitely ready to go back. His clerkship ended toward the end of July, so he had about a month off of school, which is definitely nice and very much needed, but also can get a little boring. It was great that both of our breaks were around the same time, so we were able to do some trips together.

At the end of July, we met up with my parents in Nauvoo, IL. We all had been there before, but it was nice to go back. Clay hadn't been in maybe 12ish years, and it's been about 6 for me. (I actually just guessed on all of those numbers. I really don't know) We were able to do a session in the temple, walk around the city, and see the pageant, which was really good!!! And then at the beginning of August, we were able to go to Michigan and see my parents for a week. My parent's home teacher is a partner at fairly large law firm in Detroit, and Clay was lucky enough to get an interview for next summer's internship program with them while we were there. I am trying not to get my hopes up, but if he could intern there (and eventually get a job at that firm) I would be one happy girl. For the most part, I don't really care where we end up, but we both would love to go back to Michigan. It also pays well, and we would be near family. Also, my mom would LOVE for one of her kids to be so close.

Some also really exciting news we got this week: Clay got a job offer at a firm here in Lawrence to work part time during the school year for 2 attorneys and then for that to extend to full time during the summer (if the Michigan internship or some of the Kansas City ones he's applied to don't work out). We are very relieved because if nothing works out with these large firms he's applied to, he at least has a back up. And it's a really good firm, so he is very excited. But definitely busier than last year.
