Clay and I have been so blessed this last week. Clay did really well his first semester, and has been having a lot of interviews for summer internships. He finished in the top 15% of his class, so the thought of him not getting an internship didn't really cross my mind. (Internships are really important to have during the summer so you have experience to put on your resume after you graduate) After being rejected by many law firms and government agencies, Clay talked to a 2L last week asking when people usually hear back and if he didn't get an internship, what are some other options. Anyways, she said that it's normal for people to have not made their decision yet and that even if you don't get an internship, you can take classes and not be totally out of luck for the next year.
After us both kind of having a melt down this last Wednesday, he talked to the 2L on Thursday, and then Friday Clay was offered an internship!!! He will be clerking for 2 judges at the County Courthouse here in Lawrence over the summer. It is a part-time clerkship, so he will take 2 classes over the summer as well. We are so happy and are so blessed that he was able to get an internship!
As for me, most of the students in the classroom I work in attend summer school so they do not get further behind over the summer break. So, I have applied to be a para for the summer school program and we are just waiting to hear back on that.
My parents are also visiting us this week. One of the nice things about living in Kansas is that my dad has clients down in Kansas City, and we get to see him usually once a month, or every other month. This time, my mom decided to join him, and they came out a few days before his meeting so they could spend time with us.We have shown them all the great places to eat here and tomorrow, we are all going to the Kansas City Temple open house! We are so excited to have a temple only an hour away! (compared to the 3 hour drive to the Winter Quarters temple)
We are so excited for this summer and all the adventures that will happen. I have been making a list of places and things we want to do while we are here, so hopefully we will have time to get some of those done!
