Clay's Birthday/Labor Day Weekend

Clay's birthday was this past weekend (Sept. 3rd). We decided to celebrate Friday since I had to work Saturday night. We went to this place in downtown Lawrence called The Burger Stand. It was delicious! Yummy burgers, great fries and onion rings, which Clay really liked.

After dinner, we walked up the street to a cute cupcake place. It's called Cupcake Construction Company. You are able to choose which type of cupcake you want, what filling, frosting, and what you would like on top. I got a vanilla cupcake with chocolate cream cheese frosting. Clay got a vanilla cupcake, peanut butter frosting, and peanut butter cups on top! I loved the place!

Saturday, on Clay's actual birthday, we got up and I made a breakfast casserole. It has hash browns, egg, ham, and cheese! We really like it. Then, for the whole day, Clay sat in front of the TV watching football. He even had his laptop out so he could watch 2 games at once. That's him though, and he said it was a great day! haha.

I was lucky enough to not have to work on Labor Day and Clay didn't have school, so we were able to spend the whole day together. We went shopping at Old Navy and then grocery shopping in the morning. I saw The Help with some girls from church in the afternoon. I had already seen it with my mom, but it is such a great movie. Definitely one of my new favorites. I just love it. While I was gone, Clay did some studying (what else is new!) and then later that night, we went to dinner with a couple we meet a couple weeks ago at a law school function. We were able to ask them questions about school, teachers, internships, what we should do in Lawrence, where are good places to eat, etc. It was really fun!!

All in all, it was a great weekend!

  1. That sounds great. Clay is a sucker for the onion rings, but it's no secret I'm a sucker for french fries. Sounds like a good find!
